Je Suis Intress(e) Dans French Mistake

Je Suis Intress(e) Dans French Mistake A common mistake when learning French is to use the phrase je suis  intà ©ressà ©(e)  dans to mean I am interested in. This is a tricky one because students translate literally and it doesnt work in French for many reasons. Use PAR (Not Dans) We say je suis intà ©ressà ©(e) PAR blablabla. Je suis intà ©ressà ©(e) par le cinà ©ma.Im interested in cinema. But it gets more complicated than that... In French, you could also say sintà ©resser Je mintà ©sse au cinà ©maIm interested in cinema You Must Flip Your Sentence Around Both these translations are fine grammatically. But its unlikely a French person would use these constructions at all. We would flip our sentence around. Le cinà ©ma mintà ©resse.Im interested in cinema Etre Intress = To Have Hidden Motives Watch out that à ªtre intà ©ressà © - followed by nothing can also be a way to describe someone who has hidden motives, bad intentions... Like someone who does something that looks genuine but has hidden reasons. Il prà ©tend à ªtre son ami, mais en fait il est intà ©ressà © (par... son argent par exemple). He pretends to be his friend but in reality, he is after something (his money for example).

Defining Power in Physics

Defining Power in Physics Power is the rate at which work is done or energy  is transferred in a unit of time. Power is increased if work is done faster or energy is transferred in less time. Calculating Power The equation for power is P W/t P stands for power (in watts)W stands for the amount of work done (in Joules) or energy expended (in Joules)t stands for the amount of time (in seconds) In calculus terms, power is  the derivative of work  with respect to time. If work is done faster, power is higher. If work is done slower, power is smaller. Since work is force times displacement (WF*d), and velocity is displacement over time (vd/t), power equals force times velocity: P F*v. More power is seen when the system is both strong in force and fast in velocity. Units of Power Power is measured in energy (joules) divided by time. The SI unit of power is the watt (W) or joule per second (J/s).  Power is a scalar quantity, it has no direction. Horsepower is often used to describe the power delivered by a machine. Horsepower is a unit of power in the British system of measurement. It is the power required to lift 550 pounds by one foot in one second and is about 746 watts. The watt is often seen in relation to light bulbs. In this power rating, it is the rate at which the bulb converts electrical energy into light and heat. A bulb with a higher wattage will use more electricity per unit of time. If you know the power of a system, you can find the amount of work that will be produced, as WPt. If a bulb has a power rating of 50 watts, it will produce 50 joules per second. In an hour (3600 seconds) it will produce 180,000 joules. Work and Power When you walk a mile, your motive force is displacing your body, which is measured as the work is done. When you run the same mile, you are doing the same amount of work but in less time. The runner has a higher power rating than the walker, putting out more watts. A car with 80 horsepower can produce faster acceleration than a car with 40 horsepower. In the end, both cars are going 60 miles per hour, but the 80-hp engine can reach that speed faster. In the race between the tortoise and the hare, the hare had more power and accelerated faster, but the tortoise did the same work and covered the same distance in a much longer time. The tortoise showed less power. Average Power When discussing power, people are usually referring to average power, Pavg. It is the amount of work done in a period of time (ΔW/Δt) or the amount of energy transferred in a period of time (ΔE/Δt). Instantaneous Power What is the power at a specific time? When the unit of time approaches zero, calculus is needed to derive an answer, but it is approximated by force times speed.

GROUPS AND TEAMS IN AN ORGANIZATION Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

GROUPS AND TEAMS IN AN ORGANIZATION - Essay Example According to Williams Institute, people believed that there are "right" and "wrong" choices. Coincidently, people make different choices with their personal ethical values. Williams Institute attempts to develop a program in which they assist people and guide them in the process of making ethical decisions. Groups and teams play a vital role in making an organization more productive and also it's concerned in the increase of output of the organization. In an organization it's a collection of individual's goal, objectives, efforts and staying united by interacting with each other and staying together until the task will not be accomplished. Sometimes teams or group would be made temporarily by the organization to achieve or accomplish some task or objective and after the completion of that task; those teams or groups are automatically obsolete. Effective team will not achieve any task if the members of the team don't know the strength and weaknesses of each other as well as the organization. If the teams and groups are nor united or share their skills and knowledge with each other while staying in the organization or performing their functions and activities for the organization that would play a negative role in firm's productivity and its success.

Problem of Drugs Usage in School Research Paper

Problem of Drugs Usage in School - Research Paper Example For a period of 8-9 months every year, children spend their time at school five days every week, around 6-7 hours daily. School therefore gives children the opportunity to be away from their parents/guardians. It also gives the younger children a time where they can try being like the cooler children more and more. This opportunity to appear cooler, more mature and older in older teens’ eyes makes many pre-teens and teens trying and abusing alcohol and drugs. The children also believe that this is a time when their parents/guardians are not watching over their shoulder what these children are up to. Some time ago being at school was concentrate on education but that focus is many a times being directed to the social atmosphere that a child can acquire while at school. Most children, especially teenagers, do not believe when told that they possess all the qualities that the adults they live with see in them. Most do not accept as true the fact that they possess the skills to be anything in life. They may therefore resort to drugs and alcohol abuse in order to do away with many of the expectations and pressures they believe are there – most teens report having the knowledge of how to use drugs during school hours while others report having the knowledge of where they could obtain them. Rather than using bathroom breaks, hall passes, and lunch time for their name sake, some school children spend this time popping a few pills, taking a few drags or having a few drinks. Considering the fact that high school and college life is among the most stressful of all periods in the life of a person, school children maintain that taking away their capability of blowing off steam is even more harmful compared to the drinking-caused activities. School children get pissed off when someone denies them the right to have fun. It is similar to taking some people's purpose in life away. Thinking that this is the only thing that people do is very sad. However, that is what is important to them and they are ready tight for it (Teendrugabuse.us, 3). Reports from the Partnership for a Drug Free America indicate that according to a national study, 73 percent of teens testify that the major reason as to why they use drugs is to deal with school pressure. This is a vast discrepancy with the only 7 percent of parents holding the view that their children may make use of drugs to cope with stress (Selectown.com, 2). Nyhan notes that although signs announcing drug-free zones ma y ring middle schools and high schools a national report revealed that more school children are coming across booze, blunts, pills and other illegal drugs in their playfields, lockers, classrooms and bathrooms. According to a report by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse of Columbia University, the percentage of children who attend middle schools where drugs are used, sold or stored jumped 63% from the year 2002, and rose 39% at high schools. Put differently, 80% percent of high school children said that they witnessed students who were using, possessing, dealing, drunk, or under illegal drugs’ influence. In actual fact people in the modern society do not care about school laws or rules and drug use among students is pretty much common (1-4). The school environment has become a haven for drug dealers to deal and sell drugs to children,

Horse Dealer Daughter mythology :: essays research papers fc

Cosmological Life Cycles In â€Å"The Horse-Dealer’s Daughter†   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Cosmological myths serve the purpose of explaining existence, particularly to less scientifically advanced cultures. These myths, or stories, were created as a way of dealing with the questions regarding the universe which could not be answered concretely. Cosmic myths include creation myths, flood myths, apocalyptic myths, and afterlife myths. Examples of all of these aspects of the cosmological life cycle are present in D.H. Lawrence’s â€Å"The Horse-Dealer’s Daughter†.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Creation myths, cosmogonies, explain the beginnings of the universe. The book of Genesis, the Hebrew story of creation, tells of a supreme being who brings light unto the darkness, moves the waters from the land, and gives life (Leeming, 24-25). Mabel, the main character in â€Å"The Odor of Chrysanthemums†, finally begins to live her own life after being rescued from dark, murky water by a man who can give her everything she needs (Lawrence, 9-10).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Flood myths help to explain events which cannot be controlled, such as natural disasters. The Hebrew flood myth tells of a man named Noah, who is selected, along with his family, to survive an epic flood. The flood must occur to cleanse the world of its impurities (Leeming, 47-53). The â€Å"flood† in Mabel’s own life involves the many things she loses: her mother, her family’s money, her idea of the future. However, these losses allow her to become a stronger person, to move away from merely being a daughter or a sister and become Mabel (Lawrence, 1-15).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Apocalyptic myths tell of the end of the world. The Norse myth â€Å"Ragnarok† ends with the Gods dying, and new gods stepping in to take their places (85-88). In â€Å"The Horse-Trader’s Daughter†, Mabel loses her mother, her creator. The doctor who saves her from drowning then takes on the important role of having given her renewed life, filling that void for Mabel (Lawrence, 1-15).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Afterlife myths explain what becomes of the soul after the body dies, as humans have a problem accepting the possibility that the soul becomes nothing.

Assignment 1 Trends in the Workplace Essay

Predict three (3) human resource functions that are likely to be affected by the implementation of an MRP system. Propose two (2) ways in which you as a human resource manager can help the organization carry out this change successfully. As material resource planning (MRP) involves the initiation of the automation of planning needs for resources, ordering materials, and scheduling tasks to be completed on the shop floor; it is to be expected that certain functions of human resources will be directly affected with the implementation of the MRP system. The first of these would be job analysis which is the process of getting detailed information about the job and job design which involves defining the way work will be performed and the tasks involved in completing those requirements. Obviously the shift from manual process to automation will change the standards for certain task requirements and necessitate the assessment of standards of performance. This leads directly to the affectation of a second human resource function of training and development. Training and development will become a priority as the MRP system will require dedicated orientation to introduce the systems to the employees. This will need to be a well planned undertaking for information, disclosure and inquiry response. Skill development will also need to be provided to prepare the users of the new systems for the task the implementing of automated systems can cause unrest in a business setting so it is important that employee relations and communications be kept transparent making this the third human resource function to be affected as the MRP system is implemented. Two ways in which human resource managers should be prepared to implement this change successfully is to first be fully vested in the resource that is human capital. Human resource managers should be prepared to identify those individuals who have the skill set to complete the transition for the prescribed tasks by clearly stating the task, its objectives and setting realistic goals and attainment periods. Secondly, human resource managers are to make sure the employees progress matches the goals that have been set forth. This is performance management and is critical in a transitional period. Determine three (3) human resource skills that would be important for success in leveraging the new MRP system. An undertaking of the magnitude of the MRP transition will require the use of many human resource management skills. The most important of these skills is the ability to effectively communicate. This includes written communication skills, oral communication skills and both verbal and non verbal skills and active listening can be included here as well. Critical thinking will be needed to make decisions for situations that may arise during the transition as well. Lastly, a strong sense of judgment and decision making abilities will be required. There will no doubt be times human resource managers may be called upon to make instant decisions or implement changes in an effort to complete the transition as complex issues arise. These times will require an aggressive approach to meet the quality and standards of the business. Based on the planned growth of the organization, predict three (3) factors that might impact the organization’s ability to hire new employees that possess the technical skills needed to perform a job. One factor that may have an impact the organizations ability to hire new employees that possess the desired technical skills for the performance of a job is initially recognizing the need to hire or promote a current vacancy. A second factor is determining the relevance of the current job description and whether it is in full alignment with the now automated position. This might require a simple review of the current job analysis paying close attention to the level of skill required for completing the task. Finally, a clear identification of the duties and responsibilities should be presented in order to solicit an eligible workforce. . References Essentials of human resource management. S. Tyson. The Globalization of markets. Theodore Levitt Free Essay Example, 2000 words

Wind accepted that the pattern to a homogenisation of the people’s needs did not exist, and institutionalisation was one of a few conceivable techniques, alongside separation and blended procedures (Wind, 1986). Levitt (1983) argues that in a time of worldwide rivalry, the marketing system of fruitful organisations is developing from offering redid promoting blends to every individual nation market to that of offering a solitary standard business combination on a worldwide premise. In spite of the fact that the limited time parts of globalisation have been broadly talked about, the global item procedure improvement side has been disregarded for quite a while. Nonetheless, expanding enthusiasm for the critical linkages between object strategy and assembling have been watched (Cohen and Zysman, 2007). With the forceful rivalry from European and Japanese multinational firms that underline related assembling, US companies have understood that item developments alone cant support their long haul aggressive positions without a product centred approach together with advancement in manufacturing process. Dynamic organisations worldwide are progressively utilising an all-encompassing system, the spr int strategy as in rugby; where the ball gets passed inside the group as it moves as a unit up the field. However, the social contrast rose its head amid the first year of the dispatch as French day out turned out to be altogether different from what American directors thought it would be and pounded the trusts of blasting benefits of its supervisors, who were then compelled to investigate local culture and adopt it (Theodosiou and Leonidou, 2003).
